Getting there

18 minutes from Azrou, 28 from Ifrane.

Ben Smim commune
N13 road, Ifrane province
Azrou 53123, Morocco

Open directions

A car is essential. There is no regular transport to the house, and no shops nearby.

Do your shopping in Azrou before driving up. It is the last place to stock up: food, fuel, cash machine, pharmacy.

Reach Azrou

Allow roughly 1 h 15 from Fes (75 km) and 1 h from Meknes (62 km). From Ifrane, 28 minutes are enough: the house sits on the road between Ifrane and Azrou, about ten kilometres from the latter.

Stop in Azrou

Food, fruit and vegetables, fuel, cash: it all happens here. Once you are up there, driving back down for something forgotten costs half an hour each way.

Take the N13 north

From Azrou, follow the N13 towards Ifrane. The house is in Ben Smim commune, about ten kilometres away, roughly 18 minutes by road. From Ifrane, 28 minutes the other way.

The exact arrival point and the final directions are sent to you once your booking is confirmed on Airbnb.

Around the house

Worth seeing from the house.

The Azrou cedar forest and its Barbary macaques

The cedar forest above Azrou, and the Barbary macaques that live there freely. You come across them along the trails and in the car parks.

Do not feed them. Being fed by visitors makes them dependent and aggressive, and it is one of the causes of the species' decline.

in the cedar forest

The Gouraud cedar

The best-known landmark in the cedar forest, and the classic stop on any walk through it.

28 min · 17 km

Ifrane

The town with the steep roofs, in the same province. Cafés, a park, and enough to fill half a day when you would rather not walk.

≈ 40 min · 33 km

Dayet Aoua lake

A mountain lake north of Ifrane. Its level varies greatly from season to season and year to year: check before making the trip if it is your only plan for the day.

Everything is done by car. Start with the cedar forest: it is the closest, and the most surprising.

Frequently asked

The questions guests ask before booking.

How do I book?

On Airbnb only. This site takes neither bookings nor payments: available dates, prices and house rules are all on the listing.

What is the cancellation policy?

Whatever is shown on the Airbnb listing at the time you book. It can vary with the dates, which is why we do not copy it here: the booking page is the reference.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in between 3 pm and midnight, check-out before 12 h. Four guests maximum.

Let us know your arrival time the day before, on WhatsApp. The road is easier in daylight.

Which amenities are included?

Included: private jacuzzi available all year, hot water, portable heater. Equipped kitchen: fridge, microwave, gas hob, oven, espresso machine, dining table. Wi-Fi, television, hairdryer, blackout curtains. Private entrance, gated grounds, private patio and backyard, outdoor dining area, barbecue, free parking.

Not included: air conditioning, washer, dryer, basic toiletries. At 1,250 metres nobody misses the air conditioning; plan for your laundry, though.

The Airbnb listing lists 27 amenities and is the reference.

What should I know about the jacuzzi?

It is private: for house guests only. The listing states that it is available all year round, at any hour, and that few in the area have one.

The house also borders a body of water, the one you see from the terrace.

Does it get cold in the evening?

At 1,250 metres the evenings are cool, even in summer, and the gap with the afternoon temperature is marked. Bring a jumper and a jacket, even in July.

A portable heater is available. There is no air conditioning. At this altitude, nobody misses it.

Do I need a car?

Yes. There is no regular transport to the house, and nothing within walking distance. Without a car, the stay makes no sense.

Where do I shop?

In Azrou, before driving up. It is the last place to stock up: food, fuel, cash machine, pharmacy. There are no shops near the house.

How many guests, and how do we sleep?

Four guests maximum, in two bedrooms with one bathroom.

Bedroom 1: a double bed, in a closed room.
Bedroom 2: the living room, whose sofa bed is the second sleeping space. Worth knowing before you book: it is not a second closed room, it is the main living space.

The place is rented whole: you share nothing with other guests, and the entrance is private.

Are there cameras on site?

Yes, outdoor security cameras, disclosed on the Airbnb listing. They film the surroundings of the house, never the interior nor the jacuzzi.

Pets, children, smokers: what do the rules say?

The house rules are on the Airbnb listing. If you are unsure about a specific point, write to us before booking rather than after.
